Why Go Mosaic?
Mosaic is unlike any decor one could choose to incorporate into a living or workspace. It is original. It has dimension. And it transforms with the light. A mosaic is not simply an accent or an accessory; which is precisely why artisan Randy Lassalle is drawn to this medium. "All my projects are exciting, and all my projects are art."
Randy became attracted to mosaics while traveling through Europe. She noticed them in the most unique places: floors that were buried for years but still preserved, old church walls. "The mosaic gave those places purpose and permanence," states Randy. "I want to create spaces in newer environments that become noticed and admired."
From her studio in Sarasota, Florida Randy meticulously cuts each peice of glass by hand to make mosaics of all kinds. From backsplashes to valances, and even the facade of a building, Randy is turning function into art. In turn, the environment influences the mosaic. Light and movement create changes in the glass and smalti fragments, giving each handmade mosaic art peice a life of its own. "Mosaics draw people in; they invite us to notice; they give us pause, and that's what we love about art."
